Wednesday is Nail Day: Keep ‘Em Clean

Advice about nails in this flu season, keep them short. Long nails are a bredding ground for germs to fester. Especially kids nails need to be groomed and and I’d advise a nail brush for the sticky goo that lives under the nailbed hatchery. Just smolder those goobers by good nail cliping habits a couple times a week. And, if all this talk of possible parasite housing doesn’t freak you out you’re braver than I.

Thursday is Skin Day: A Pox Upon Your Skin

I’ve been working a lot with my almost 2 yr old’s skin this week as he has the chicken pox.
Is caused me to look into how to keep him confortable with busting blisters. Gag me, right ?
The highest recommendation commonly over looked is, not to use products that would seal or not allow the blisters to breath.

We’ve been keeping away from Aloe and oils. The most common use while induring chicken pox is good old fashion Caladryl aka Calamine. Better refered to as “the pink stuff”.

A second runner up in keeping him content is Aveeno Skin Relif Bath Treatment. This product is 100% natural and not regular oatmeal you buy to bake a batch of cookies with. It’s Colloidal oatmeal, and although I do not understand the sceintific process of breaking down the oatmeal to the approperate stage. I do know my toddler is happy to soak in it twice a day.

The body is amazing to heal it’s self of viruses, even buy pushing the toxins out by the skin.
Here’s to hoping his healing continues !

Wednesday is Nail Day: Acrylics

Have you ever worn acrylic nails ? I have, a friend put them on for a prom. There’s a lot of danger in that sentence, but sticking to nails, no pun intended……they broke off on my steering wheel on the way home, go figure.

All this to say I don’t wear them. Yes I also had them applied by a professional, but my nails grow so quickly. Too fast that I’d need a fill in everyweek, being a full time Momma I don’t have the liesure time, nor cash. I often wonder about the health of the nailbed for those who wear fake nails day in and day out. Maybe when I’m an old greyhair, I’ll be tempted to wear them, but until then I’m natural.

Tuesday is Scent Day: To Smell or Not to Smell

When I was younger my nose was hyper sensitive to any and all smells. It was like being punished for leaving the house when exposed to all the smells Baltimore had to offer my lame nostrills. For instance old ladys’ who have worn their scent so long they are immune to it, and therefore spray on too much. That could make me sick to my stomach and ruin a day out. And, then there is always the cigarette arm hanging out the car window, because they don’t smoke in their car. hmmm.
I must confess I enjoy growing into my womenhood and one of the blessings is my nose is conking out. My life is pure bliss not to smell another’s body odor, nor feet stinch. I cannot even smell when my baby has a bowel movement. It is the small thing in life, especialy when it comes to scents.

Monday is Hair Day: Hair is Her Crown of Glory?

Hair is her Crown of Glory? Not sure how true that is, but I am sure I spend way too much time on this subject. My hair is currently short, and now that winter is slowly approaching I’ve been wearing a knit cap that allows some wipy bangs to peek through. As, musch as I love this cute cap keeping me from fussing with my over all hair appearence, it takes a little balance on my part to keep it on!

My favorite shampoo when my hair is bleached out as it is, Cairol Shimmering Lights. It pours out deep purple and lathers into a nice light shade of purple, letting you know the ingredients are working to tone your hair. The purpose of this shampoo is to take away any yellow fading and replace the fresh out of the Salon shine.

Friday is Makeup Day: Stranded Island Makeup

If I were stranded on a desert island and only had acess to two makeup conveniences, I’d choose eyeliner and mascara. I’ll assume my face will be tan, because aren’t all imaginary islands tropical? That leaves me with pale eyelashes that would be in need of coating.

My favorite mascara is Maybelline Volum’ Express Turbo Boost, the wand is perfect for my tiny lashes that need a lot of coaxing. I also enjoy Avon’s daring Definition Mousse mascara, something about the mousse makes my lashes respond.

I am quite fair, so eyelining plays a major role in playing up my blue eyes. In many write ups experts promote my eye color looking well in blue, but I’m not a kid in the 80’s any longer, so my choices are in rich chocolates. Cover Girl’s Perfect Blend in black/brown does well for me. I like the blending sponge tip to make my liner look more subtle, and smooth without the harshness.

So, while in my captivity whoever shows up, will be able to look me eye to eye.

Tuesday is Scent Day: Mommy and Not Mommy

“Elegance is not the prerogative of those who have just escaped from adolescence, but of those who have already taken possession of their future.” – Coco Chanel  My favorite scents tie with Chance by Chanel and CoCo Mademoiselle. Their musky hues when worn with my classy attire, (not Mommy wear), truly make me feel as one who is taking posession of my immediate future at best.

With my Mommy wear, I sport Lush Candy Fluff Dusting powder. It has iridescent sparkles and smells somewhat like cotton candy. So what boy wouldn’t wanna give his Momma a hug when she smells like candy? I do live for those hugs!
